After the intense opening on June 27 with the Mare Nostrum trio, the Bergamo Jazz Estate 2025 summer festival enters the limelight with two dates of absolute prestige. An event that once again confirms Bergamo’s central role in the European music scene, thanks to the synergy between Fondazione Teatro Donizetti, the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo and the City of Bergamo, with the support of BCC Milano.
On Thursday, July 10, the Lazaretto will host a passionate and visionary tribute to Weather Report, one of the most influential ensembles in jazz history. On stage, the vocal charisma of Kurt Elling, one of the most refined and award-winning baritone performers on the world scene, will join the expressive power of the Yellowjackets, the iconic band of American jazz-fusion. A meeting of outstanding performers, capable of rewriting with freedom and respect the codes of a music that has marked an era.

But perhaps the most anticipated event is on Friday, July 18, when Herbie Hancock will return to Bergamo after more than 50 years.

A living legend of jazz, Hancock has traversed every musical season with genius and courage, from Miles Davis ‘ quintet to the funk of the Headhunters to electronic experimentation and classy pop.
With him, a stellar lineup consisting of Terence Blanchard, Lionel Loueke, James Genus and Jaylen Petinaud. A concert that promises to be a journey through time, style and innovation.

The concerts, both starting at 9:30 p.m., are part of the summer project promoted by the Culture Department of the City of Bergamo at Lazzaretto, a place that, thanks to music, is transformed every year into a space of encounter, beauty and cultural openness.
Bergamo Jazz Estate 2025 is thus confirmed as not only an extension of the historic March programming, but a true international stage capable of lighting up the Bergamo summer with the unmistakable light of great jazz.
