  • Grand Hotel Della Posta history notes

The Grand Hotel Della Posta is an imposing and elegant 19th-century building.

Established as a landmark stop along the old Strada Regia Postale, it hosted travelers and stagecoaches bound for the Alpine passes. Owned by the Vitali family since 1896, it then passed to Credito Valtellinese, which between 2006 and 2008 oversaw a major restoration, enhancing its frescoed ceilings, wooden beams, original floors and period furnishings. In fact, the structure holds an important artistic heritage, from the Sertoli Da Ponte collection (with works from the 16th to the 19th century) to Arturo Martini’s posthumous bronzes and contemporary installations by artists such as Takis, Avalle and Spoerri.

  • The Saint Jane hotel group of the Sangiani family.

The Grand Hotel della Posta is owned by the Sangiani family’s Saint Jane Group, which has 20 hotels in 11 destinations.

The entrepreneurial adventure of the Sangiani family started back in 1950 with the historic Albergo Cristallo in Aprica.

From leadership in the Valtellina area in the Aprica, Tirano and Bormio ski resorts, it has moved on to expansion into beach and mountain resorts in the regions: Lombardy, Trentino, Piedmont, Sicily, Calabria, Apulia, Sardinia, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.
